Tasmania’s Harmony Week kicks off!!!

Tasmanians are being encouraged to take part in the state’s second week-long multicultural celebration when it kicks off this Monday 20 March.

Harmony Week events are taking place across Tasmania from 20 – 26 March to promote community harmony and celebrate Tasmania’s rich cultural diversity.

Multicultural Council of Tasmania, Harmony Week Coordinator Grace Walsh is excited to see the response from communities to Harmony Week.

“Harmony Week is for all Tasmanians, and you can see schools, workplaces and communities throughout the state getting behind the message that everyone belongs.”

“Harmony Week enables every Tasmanian to recognise and respect our differences and promote an environment that welcomes people of all cultures.”

“We encourage everyone to get involved in the celebrations and experience the benefits diversity brings to our state.

The Multicultural Council of Tasmania is coordinating Harmony Week activities and events with the support of the Tasmanian Government.

Hobart
Monday 20th March from 7pm – 9pm
Iranian New Year Celebrations, Salamanca Arts Centre

Tuesday 21st March from 12.30 – 1.30pm
Welcome for International, Migrant and Humanitarian Entrant Students, Elizabeth Mall, Hobart

Wednesday 22nd March from 5pm – 6pm

Sunday 26th March from 11am to 4pm

Scottsdale
Saturday 25th March from 4.00 – 6.30pm
Melting Pot Community Event at Mechanics’ Institute Hall, King Street, Scottsdale

Sunday 26th March from 2pm – 3.30pm
Harmony Hafla Event at Mechanics’ Institute Hall, King Street, Scottsdale

Devonport
Tuesday 21st March from 6.00 – 7.30pm
Community Tea and activities at the East Devonport Child and Family Centre, 40 Drew St, East Devonport.

Deloraine
Tuesday 21st March from 12 – 2pm
Tastes of the World Harmony Event at Deloraine Community House, 112 Emu Bay Rd, Deloraine

Burnie
Monday 21st March from 11am – 3pm
Filipino Festival, Burnie Child and Family Centre, 36 Thorne Street, Acton TAS
